Payroll Relief Employee Portal: What Employees Can See and How Access Works

The Payroll Relief Employee Portal is the worker-facing side of Payroll Relief. Employees and contractors can be given secure access to their own payroll information without receiving access to the accounting firm’s full payroll system. Current IRIS documentation says workers can use the web portal or the Payroll Relief mobile application to view pay stubs, and current Employee Portal documentation also supports personal-information and W-2 access.

The most important detail for employees is that access is tied to the payroll provider operating Payroll Relief.

That is why the system uses a firm code.

Why a Firm Code Is Required

Payroll Relief is designed around accounting firms with multiple payroll clients.

IRIS explains that the firm code links the employer’s and employees’ payroll data to the accounting firm that processes the payroll. Employees therefore need the appropriate firm code to see the correct pay-stub data.

This is different from a consumer app where everyone registers independently under one universal account directory.

The employee relationship exists because an employer’s payroll provider has already created the payroll environment.

Access Is Activated by the Payroll Administrator

Current employee setup documentation says the payroll administrator can activate an employee or contractor for Employee Portal access, specify a login name and use the worker’s email address to generate a first-use invitation. The email can contain the username, a one-time password-setup link and the Employee Portal access path.

This means an employee generally should not need an unofficial third-party site to “create” a Payroll Relief identity.

Access originates from the legitimate payroll relationship.

Pay Stubs

Pay-stub access is one of the portal’s primary purposes.

The web Employee Portal and mobile app can give employees 24/7 access to pay statements according to current IRIS and app-store documentation.

A pay stub may show information such as:

gross wages;

taxes;

deductions;

net pay;

pay date;

year-to-date values.

Exactly which items appear can depend on the employer’s pay-stub configuration. Current Payroll Relief settings allow employers to control some printed pay-stub details, including whether certain hours, rates or identifying information are displayed.

W-2 and Payroll Tax Forms

Employee Portal access also supports payroll tax forms.

The current Apple listing describes access to payroll tax forms, while IRIS employee setup documentation specifically mentions W-2 viewing and printing.

This makes the portal especially important after year-end.

Employees who rarely access the system during normal payroll periods may return when they need annual tax documentation.

Historical W-2 Availability Has Limits

Current IRIS guidance published in July 2026 says Payroll Relief retains tax forms, including W-2s, in the client record for up to four years from the current year. Forms outside that window are no longer available directly from the client record and may need to be obtained from the appropriate tax agency.

That is useful context for former employees.

A very old W-2 request is not necessarily an Employee Portal password problem.

The form itself may be outside Payroll Relief’s retained history.

Mobile App Access

The Payroll Relief Employee Portal also has a mobile application.

The current App Store listing describes:

  • pay stubs;
  • payroll tax forms;
  • payday notifications;
  • W-4 or I-9 uploads;
  • contact-information updates.

The app is therefore more than a simple paycheck notification tool.

It can participate in employee-document and profile workflows as well.

W-4 Uploads

The current app description says workers can upload W-4 forms securely to their employer.

Because a W-4 affects federal income-tax withholding, employees should make changes only through the authorized employer/payroll workflow.

An independent informational site has no legitimate reason to receive a worker’s W-4.

I-9 Documents

The app also describes I-9 document delivery.

That makes portal security particularly important because employment-authorization processes can involve sensitive personal documentation.

Employees should use only the legitimate Payroll Relief environment supplied through their employer or payroll processor.

Contact Information Updates

The app currently allows employees to update information such as mailing address, phone number and email address.

This can matter at year-end.

An outdated mailing address may create problems when employers distribute tax documentation or employment correspondence.

Contractors May Use the Same Portal

Payroll Relief’s current setup documentation says contractor records can also be activated for Employee Portal access.

The portal name therefore does not determine legal worker classification.

A person accessing “Employee Portal” may still be configured as a contractor in Payroll Relief.

Employee versus contractor status comes from the actual worker relationship and payroll setup.

Employee Portal and Employee Self Service Are Different

Payroll Relief also has an Employee Self Service product.

ESS is a broader add-on focused on digital onboarding, training and employee-data management.

The distinction is useful:

Employee Portal: payroll records and basic employee access.

Employee Self Service: broader onboarding and employee-management workflow.

Our Payroll Relief Employee Self Service guide covers the second system.

Password Reset Starts With the Authorized Payroll Relationship

Current Payroll Relief setup tools let authorized payroll administrators trigger a password-reset email for an employee or contractor.

That is the safe account-recovery model.

An independent “Payroll Relief login help” page should never ask the worker to send:

a Social Security number;

full tax form;

bank details;

password.

If the employee cannot use the provided portal credentials, the employer or payroll provider that manages the Payroll Relief account is the appropriate place to begin.

Login Variants Are One Search Family

People may search:

Payroll Relief login;

Payroll Relief employee login;

Payroll Relief portal;

Payroll Relief paystub login;

Payroll Relief W2;

Payroll Relief app.

These phrases largely point toward one employee-access problem.

One comprehensive page should explain the portal, firm code, account creation, tax forms and security rather than splitting the same intent across several competing URLs.
